Job Description

We're seeking a Research Director to grow our research department and lead the team in innovating, productizing and conducting top-quality quantitative and qualitative research. The research department produces a wide variety of data to inform strategic planning, positioning, message development and campaign execution--utilizing public opinion studies,

market segmentation, in-depth interviews, message workshops, media content analyses, and more.

The ideal candidate will have a diverse background and skill set, with experience serving organizations in business, as well as politics and/or advocacy; sophisticated qualitative and quantitative skills; and training in social psychology or related fields.

Responsibilities include:

Mentoring research associates and managing subcontractors to produce sophisticated quantitative and qualitative research.

Overseeing all aspects of the research process, from design to fielding, analysis and reporting, ensuring the quality and reliability of data.

Managing the research team’s production of briefs, reports, and other research products.

Offering research-based ideas for developing persuasive messages and engaging communications strategies.

Presenting research findings and recommendations to clients.

Staying current on research techniques used in social psychology, consumer marketing, and politics.

Managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.

Contributing to the firm’s growth, working with the leadership team on business development and planning.

Qualifications include:

A Master's degree or PhD and 5-10 years of experience in an academic institution and/or market research firm.

Experience in branding and marketing for organizations in business, advocacy, politics and/or philanthropy.

Research and analytical skills for qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Background in social psychology and familiarity with the science of persuasion, motivation, and related fields.

Experience using research to inform the development of messages, marketing strategies, and creative content.

Professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

Excellent writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meeting high quality standards while meeting deadlines and budgets.

Experience working with high-level personnel in high-profile organizations.

Deep interest in domestic and international policy issues, with a desire to grow with a dynamic firm.
