Netcentric Campaigns transforms advocacy for foundations and nonprofits by building networks of people to move change forward. Netcentric Campaigns provides network assessments, network action planning and strategy and network mobilization for foundations, nonprofit organizations and grassroots leaders.

 

The Director of Digital Strategy is responsible for promoting and managing the development of emerging advocacy networks, online projects, supporting managers of the network and providing instructional technology support through online coaching and training.

 

The ideal candidate is experienced in campaign and advocacy work, digital strategy, online organizing, and online political or advocacy campaigns. She or he will excel at developing organizing strategies and empowering community leaders, be capable of translating user needs into functional specifications for online applications and be responsible for meeting project goals and deadlines.

 

The Director of Digital Strategy will be organized and will thrive in the fast-paced tempo of an online campaign. She or he will successfully balance the management of internal staff, clients, and vendors and will be enthusiastic, diplomatic, determined and quick-witted. The Director of Digital Strategy will have experience at identifying, cultivating and closing new business opportunities. She or he will also adapt well to a small but growing team and will bring along a blend of curiosity and professional courtesy.

While the Director of Digital Strategy will report to the chief operating officer, she or he may be assigned tasks by Netcentric’s president or by other team leaders who are managing projects that the Director is assigned to. The Director of Digital Strategy must be a strategic thinker but also will transition seamlessly to hands on mode as needed. She or he must be willing to adopt our systems and processes and should contribute ideas for improvements. Collaboration is a key component of our success, so the Director of Digital Strategy must be comfortable using systems and tools that enable team-tackle development of documents, spreadsheets and presentations. The Director Digital Strategy must also be skilled at project budget development and evaluation, project planning and evaluation, and crafting impactful messaging for client communications and proposals.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Digital Strategy is both a leader and a manager. She or he will be driven by the mission of the organization and will work with other senior management toward ensuring the growth and success of the organization. She or he will contribute to the strategic direction of the organization and will embody our culture and values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project and staff management

·         Manage an Online Networking Team of one to four staff members.

·         Build bench strength within teams through coaching, training and 360-evaluation.

·         Participate in Senior Management Team meetings and discussions. Contribute to organization-level decisions.

·         Be responsible for client management and satisfaction.

·         Demonstrate ability to move into problem solving mode as needed.

·         Manage project budgets within financial and hours budget constraints.

·         Develop and adjust budgets for projects and proposals.

·         Manage and review project scope changes with president and COO.

·         Review and analyze project budget and staff capacity reports.

·         Successfully manage a minimum of three client projects.

·         Review and analyze project and staff reporting and make appropriate recommendations and changes.

·         Develop relationships with and manage outside consultants and vendors.

 

Build and maintain relationships within online community

·         Meet with community leaders to assess their needs.

·         Assure community interests are met in the software design process.

·         Create a value message to encourage partners to share data through community dashboard.

·         Use online tools to facilitate content sharing and online trainings.

·         Monitor and track the spread and adaptation of campaign initiatives.

·         Stay up to date on the latest social media tools, applications and features.

·         Promote use of online tools and services to the community, including converting stragglers to active community participants.

·         Organize and manage ad-hoc project teams.

·         Promote and distribute campaign messages, resources and initiatives through campaign-specific online channels.

·         Contribute content and personality to create a dynamic and engaging campaign web presence.

 

Lead network’s initiatives

·         Act as a hub for sharing best practices and ideas across the network.

·         Use effective leadership skills to promote, influence and leverage networks to achieve change.

·         Serve as an active thought leader and advocate for the effective integration of technology across the network.

·      Use blogs, webinars, email communications, phone interactions, social networks and presentations to facilitate conversations across the network.

·         Develop high-touch customer experience process to ensure community members receive a superior level of support.

 

Contribute to organizational growth and development

·         Expand/renew existing projects.

·         Manage client expectations and continuously improve client service.

·         Identify new business opportunities, cultivate potential client relationships and close new business deals.

·         Lead proposal submission processes through planning, writing and budgeting.

·         Create content for organization blogs, e-newsletters and webinar trainings.

·         Provide coaching to fellow staff members to improve organizational knowledge about online tools and strategy.

·         Model organizational culture and values.

·         Provide leadership for direct reports and all staff. Contribute to staff growth, development and retention.

·         Mentor and train junior staff.

·         Assist in hiring new staff.

Requirements:

·         Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.

·         At least 5 years of senior management experience in digital strategy, online networks, online organizing and/or online political or advocacy campaigns.

·         Minimum two years experience in successful new business development.

·         Superior listening and communications skills with a track record of effective interaction with teammates and clients.

·         High level of functional skill using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Google tools for collaboration, planning and editing.

·         Proven experience in managing a staff or team of at least four people.

·         Proven success at cultivating collaborative relationships with direct reports and fellow staff members, including coaching and training as well as leading with motivation and encouragement.  

·         Proven success in managing a project or organization budget in the $200,000 to $1 million range.

·         Demonstrated success in coordinating campaigns or complex projects, involving many stakeholders, and completing deliverables on time.

·         Demonstrated success in presenting to large and small audiences. Must be able to present innovative concepts including organizing and network building.

·         Have excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to balance large amounts of inbound correspondence without making community members feel left out.

·         Have an existing extensive professional network of experts in the field of online advocacy and political organizing.

·         Ability to actively cultivate new professional connections.

·         Knowledge of or experience working on progressive issues related to tax, health, environment, community justice or other issues related to childhood obesity.

·         Ability to build trust and influence partners and key stakeholders in order to achieve project goals.

·         Excellent relationship-building, consulting and client management skills.

·         Availability to travel, at times on short notice.

·         Have a bachelor’s degree.

 

Compensation:

This is a senior level position with a salary range of $80,000 - $100,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
