POSITION SUMMARY

United We Dream is seeking an Institutional Giving Manager to oversee the administration of more than 75 funding relationships, improving all aspects of UWD’s grants process, and providing support and trainings to our teams on best practices. The ideal candidate will be passionate about UWD’s mission, understand the funding landscape in the advocacy and public policy space, work collaboratively across teams, and be committed to sharing knowledge and building capacity through mentoring and training. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position based in Washington, D.C.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES ● Manage grant production and reporting process from the beginning to the end, from RFP or LOI to final submission, meeting all internal and external deadlines ● Perform research, writes, and prepares grants and reports tailored to and in compliance with grantors guidelines and deadlines ● Lead coordination of and liaise with key staff to develop content for proposals and reports and develop budgets ● Synthesize information from across the organization to produce compelling funding proposals, reports, and other narrative materials ● Manage and update organization’s funder records and activities (proposals, grant agreements, reports, contact reports) in central file and CRM ● Develops and maintains a grants calendar and tracking system to ensure timely completion of applications and reports ● Coordinate with Finance team in budget preparation and perform routine department reconciliation to align budget projections ● Maintain and routinely update department’s library of supplemental proposal documents ● Collaborates with Individual Giving Manager on development and submission of proposals to family foundations ● Support Development Director with internal strategy meetings, by preparing funder briefings and conducting prospect research for institutional funders and prospects ● Support UWD affiliates in grant-seeking and building fundraising capacity with training and coaching ● Assists with other functions in the Development Department as assigned by the Development Director

QUALIFICATIONS ● Deeply committed to United We Dream’s mission and an ability to balance your burning passion for justice with a good sense of humor ● At least 3 years grants management experience ● At least 5 years of proposal-writing and reporting experience ● Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal skills) ● Track record of success in building institutional funding relationships and securing grants of six-figures or greater ● Experience developing compelling narratives and materials around campaigns and initiatives ● Experience tracking grant deliverables with program leads to ensure good stewardship while strengthening and streamlining reporting ● Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure ● Excellent organization and problem solving skills and meticulous attention to detail ● Enjoys working with others and is a team player ● Systems thinker who thinks creatively about the templates, calendars, workflows and other systems to get work done by managing many moving parts and inputs from multiple stakeholders ● Attention to detail -- making sure that no donor, letter of inquiry, or report falls through the cracks ● Proficient in Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), comfortable using online resources and tools

PREFERRED ● Experience building funding relationships to support immigrant rights and/or organizing/advocacy, a plus ● Working knowledge of The Raiser’s Edge ● Prospect research experience
