Genocide Intervention Network/Save Darfur Coalition (GI-NET/SDC) is seeking a proven Senior Director of Development. Genocide Intervention Network and the Save Darfur Coalition, both created in response to atrocities in the Darfur region of Sudan, merged in November 2010 to create the world's largest anti-genocide organization. GI-NET/SDC has a membership base of over 800,000 committed activists globally, an unparalleled nationwide student movement, and a network of institutional investors with over $700 billion in assets under management. GI-NET/SDC is focused on ending atrocities and building peace in Sudan, while laying the groundwork for its genocide prevention campaign. The Senior Director of Development will be responsible for planning and leading a comprehensive annual development program to support the work of Genocide Intervention Network/Save Darfur Coalition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Developing, in conjunction with Development team, senior staff and the Board of Directors, the overall fundraising strategy for the organization and setting three to five year funding targets.
• Work with the Senior Director of Finance & Administration to monitor cash flow, provide financial reports to the Board, and re-project revenue expectations as necessary.
• Establish and maintain GI-NET/SDC's grant portfolio including outreach, proposal writing, and reporting.
• Manage direct marketing programs, including direct mail copy development and production, telemarketing scripts and programs, both in partnership with direct marketing consultants.
• Manage online fundraising program (including email appeals, website giving, and social media giving), in partnership with e-campaign consultants.
• Manage Combined Federal Campaign and State Campaign giving.
• Develop and manage major donor, planned giving, and corporate giving programs, as well as fundraising events.
• Ensure compliance with all guidelines related to non-profit fund raising, including state registrations and charity watchdog standards.
• Serve as a member of the senior staff leadership team, seeking to engage all staff in successfully marketing and promoting program activities to donors.
• Work with the finance and communications teams to develop and maintain the online store and identify other opportunities for merchandise sales.
• Supervise Director of Major Donor Programs and Donor Services Coordinator as well as fundraising consultants.
Qualifications include:
Degree: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred
Years of Experience: 8 years, minimum
Skills and Abilities: Strong writing and editing skills. Extensive staff and volunteer management experience. Expertise in raising funds via direct mail, the web, foundations, major donors, events, planned giving, CFC, and corporate giving. Ability to establish and nurture excellent interpersonal relationships. Familiarity with non-profit accounting. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Computer Equipment and Software: Experience with donor databases, eCRM's and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
