The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum is America’s first presidential library. It was conceived and built under President Roosevelt’s direction and opened to the public in 1941. The Library’s mission is to foster research and education on the life and times of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and their continuing impact on contemporary life. Its work is carried out in four major areas: Archives, Museum, Education, and Public Programs. Overseen by the National Archives and Records Administration, the Library is primarily supported by the Roosevelt Institute, which raises private funds for new exhibits, programs, and renovations.

 Position Overview: The Assistant Director manages the Roosevelt Institute’s fundraising efforts for the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, serving as a primary partner in the development and implementation of a broad strategy for Library development activities. Working closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the FDR Library Director, and in conjunction with other members of the Institutional Advancement team, he/she oversees and executes all aspects of fundraising activities for the Library, including individual and institutional giving, Trustee management, library-related events, membership and planned giving.

 Key Responsibilities

  •   Help develop strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new individual and institutional donors for the Library
  •  Maintain personal contact with identified donors through written, electronic, verbal, and face-to-face communication
  •  Work with the VP of Institutional Advancement and Library Director to engage, cultivate, solicit and steward the Library Board of Trustees
  • Work with the VP of Institutional Advancement to lead a corporate fundraising effort
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports
  • Design, prepare, and distribute print and electronic appeals

·         Occasional travel

Qualifications:

·         5 – 7 years of related experience with an emphasis on individual giving, Board management and familiarity with institutional giving

·         Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

·         Outstanding time-management, organizational and interpersonal skills 

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·         Detail oriented

·         Interest in History

·         Knowledge of Salesforce CRM software preferred

A college degree is required.
