Description

The Tax Revenue Campaign (a temporary name) is a new national campaign formed by a coalition of major national organizations active on tax reform issues at both the national and state levels. The Campaign's Steering Committee (listed below) consists of 30 organizations representing labor unions; think tanks; national, state and local advocacy networks; tax reform coalitions; and diverse constituency groups. The campaign has come together based on the belief that the country needs comprehensive, progressive tax reform that results in greater state and federal revenue to meet our growing needs.

The campaign is looking to hire a small team to direct this one-year campaign to raise federal tax revenues and build a counter-narrative to decades of anti-tax rhetoric. We are looking to hire someone with experience in overseeing field operations nationwide and in targeted states. The person must be skilled in working with a diverse set of organization with field operations. The Field Director will report directly to the Campaign Manager.

Summary of Position: This is a full-time position offering competitive salary and benefits through January 2013, with the possibility of an extension through some or all of the remainder of 2013.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Create and implement a national field mobilization and advocacy plan with measurable milestones and outcomes to influence policymakers and generate significant earned media.

• Coordinate field mobilization and advocacy strategies with national Campaign partners.

• Hire and manage organizations and individuals as consultants in up to 10 states for field mobilization, advocacy and earned media, with a clear set of deliverables and methods for maintaining accountability.

• Communicate with and mobilize a national network of state and local organizations that are not hired to provide consulting services.

• Prepare written materials needed to implement a field mobilization and advocacy campaign.

• Design and provide trainings to organizations engaged in the field program.

• Work closely with Campaign communications staff to integrate earned media strategies into the field work.

• Maintain a database of field contacts.

• Other duties as assigned by the Campaign Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years progressive leadership experience in electoral, legislative and/or issue advocacy campaigns.

• Bachelor of Arts in relevant field.

• Extensive experience with all aspects of a field campaign, including strategic planning, targeting, mobilizing, training, preparing field materials, generating earned media, utilizing the Internet and social media, and measuring results.

• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage organizations and individuals providing contract field mobilization, advocacy and earned media services.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, work well under pressure, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written forms.

• Ability to produce well-written field organizing and education materials such as fact sheets, leaflets, and toolkits.

• Knowledge of Excel and other software for managing contact lists and field activities.

• Ability to do limited travel.
