Constitutional Accountability Center (CAC), a think tank, law firm, and action center dedicated to fulfilling the progressive promise of our Constitution’s text, history, and values, is looking for a talented Communications Manager.   At this pivotal moment in our country, and in CAC’s 10th anniversary year, we are seeking a Communications Manager to help us reach a broader audience and increase our impact through strategic communications efforts.

Constitutional Accountability Center envisions a future in which judges, policymakers, academics, non-profit organizations, and the public understand the Constitution, in its most vital respects, to be a progressive document, and always apply the text, history, and values of the whole Constitution to resolve disputes over its meaning. We work in our courts, through our government, and with legal scholars to preserve the rights and freedoms of all Americans and to protect our judiciary from politics and special interests. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Manager’s work will focus primarily on organizational communications and developing and implementing digital media plans.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing an organizational communications strategy to supplement CAC’s media strategy and generate attention for all of CAC’s work.
  • Design a strategy that includes our monthly newsletter, regular communication to our email list, and improving our use of social media.
  • Developing and executing an integrated digital media strategy across all online platforms with our Digital Communications Associate.
  • Write and disseminate our monthly newsletter.
  • Build our email list of supporters and coordinate regular communication with supporters.
  • Project manage larger communications department efforts including press events, social media campaigns, etc.
  • Supervise the Digital Communications Associate.

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and four years of organizational communications experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in promoting a progressive vision rooted in the Constitution’s text and history, and exposure to the courts as a vehicle for social change.
  • Strong writing skills and capacity to translate policy and legal issues for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience developing and executing effective social media campaigns.
  • Impeccable judgment and ability to communicate in CAC’s voice.
  • Understanding of multifaceted policy and/or legal advocacy campaigns that involve media, policy and the courts.
  • Experience with WordPress, EveryAction, Microsoft Office, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
  • Ability to be a team player as well as a self-starter.

 

Salary and Benefits:  The starting salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000, depending on experience. CAC offers generous benefits including paid health and dental insurance and flexible hours.
