ReThink Media is a unique nonprofit media shop dedicated exclusively to building the communications and messaging capacity of think tanks, advocacy organizations, experts and allies working toward a more constructive U.S. foreign policy, in support of human and civil rights and in strengthening our democracy. The organizations we serve represent the foremost leaders, thinkers and organizers in the fields of disarmament, conflict prevention, peace and security, human and civil rights, and in addressing the undue special interest influence in politics and the judiciary.

We provide the groups and collaboratives that we serve with regular access to public opinion research, media coverage analysis and message development resources specific to each of these issues areas.  We provide our member organizations with access to a state-of-the-art media database and press distribution system accompanied by a suite of on-line media tools and technologies to enhance their presentation to the media and to improve their collaboration and coordination. We provide ongoing consulting and training in critical media and communications skills and direct communications support.

Job Specification:Content Manager & Digital Media Strategist

The Content Manager & Digital Media Strategist will implement ReThink’s overall social media strategy, provide consultation and training for member organizations, and lead the staff in implementing on social rapid response efforts across all of the issue areas and collaboratives that ReThink Media serves. She/He will coordinate with other staff to ensure a consistent online voice for ReThink and provide the best social media analytics and tailored expertise possible to its member organizations and to inform the online strategies of ongoing advocacy and collaborative communications campaigns.

Responsibilities

·    Curate and deploy content for all ReThink digital and social platforms (including but not limited to ReThink’s public’s site, members-only site, Twitter account, etc.).

·    Copyedit and proofread all published web copy and assess any technical challenges in displaying the content (quality assurance).

·    Serve as primary contact for web developers/consultants, overseeing development of a new ReThink site and any subsequent extensions.

·    Successfully implement ReThink’s social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across the organization.

·    Cultivate relationships and rapport with bloggers writing in ReThink member organization focus areas for future pitches, leaks, etc.

·    Manage social media campaigns, which may include online advocacy, writing editorial, community-outreach efforts, promotions, etc.

·    Monitor effective metrics for measuring the impact of social media programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns. Find ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.

·    Monitor trends in social media tools, practices and applications to ensure that ReThink is providing cutting edge services and consultation.

Requirements

·    3-5 years of experience in social media management, digital strategy, and/or PR.

·    Ability to demonstrate expert knowledge in current social media best practices.

·    Excellent communication, marketing, and writing skills.

·    Strong project management or organizational skills, with high attention to detail.

·    Strong writing skills and ability to create editorial content at a moment’s notice.

·    In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective user bases, and how they can be deployed in different scenarios.

·    Ability to effectively communicate, build and maintain relationships online.

·    Good technical understanding and the ability to pick up new tools quickly.

·    Ability to multi-task and manage a variety of projects and clients at once.

·    Experience with Drupal, Google Analytics, Topsy and/or HootSuite is a plus.

·    Existing relationships with bloggers, journalists, and social influencers a plus.

·    Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations or media studies is a plus.
