The Campaign Legal Center (CLC) seeks a Digital Communications Manager to create, build and implement a dynamic digital strategy.

Founded in 2002, the Campaign Legal Center is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that defends and protects our democracy in the areas of campaign finance, voting rights, political communication and government ethics. CLC works to attack laws and regulations that undermine the fundamental rights of all Americans to participate in the political process and to defend laws that protect these interests. Working in administrative, legislative and legal proceedings, CLC shapes our nation’s laws and policies so that the right to have a voice in our free and democratic society remains the foundation of our political system. This position is based in Washington, DC.

Job Description

CLC is seeking a Digital Communications Manager to be a key member of a growing communications team. This is a new position responsible for creating, building and implementing an effective digital strategy for the Campaign Legal Center. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, the Digital Communications Manager will create quality content and manage the organization’s digital platforms, including the blog, social media, email marketing and the website. The Digital Communications Manager . is responsible for keeping current with the latest trends and technology, and making recommendations to the Director to keep the organization's web site and digital presence engaging and competitive.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with CLC staff, gather ideas to create regular, quality content across social media platforms, including posts, graphics, videos and blogs, resulting in increased engagement with target audiences.
  • and respond to online users.
  • Draft content for emails, including regular and consistent e-newsletters promoting CLC’s work to funders and subscribers.
  • Contribute to developing and managing CLC’s editorial calendar.
  • Draft and manage website content.
  • Regularly track, analyze and report web metrics and donor/subscriber data.
  • Assist in managing outside web vendor for security updates and site development.

Qualifications include:

  • At least three years of successful and creative digital communications experience, preferably in a non-profit, on the Hill or on a campaign.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong writing skills for online mediums.
  • Experience with email marketing services.
  • Knowledge of Drupal and programming languages: HTML, SQL, PHP, and others
  • Knowledge of design programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and others.
  • Project management (website build outs, data migration, campaign planning, etc.).
  • Proficient photography and video editing skills.
  • Proficient graphic design abilities.
  • Passion for improving our democracy and protecting the fundamental right to participate in the political process.
