Description

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is looking for a full-time Fundraising Manager to provide fundraising consulting and support to a rapidly evolving, highly successful network of state-level policy organizations that work to expand economic opportunity and strengthen communities. The Fundraising Manager will report to the Director of State Network Advancement. The position is based in Washington, DC.

The State Fiscal Policy team at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is a dynamic team that influences state policy debates by producing timely, credible, and accessible research; messaging complex issues in clear and compelling ways; and delivering this analysis into the hands of lawmakers, media, grassroots organizations, and other partners who can help mobilize change. Central to this work is the Center’s support for the State Priorities Partnership.

For over two decades, the Partnership, a network of 43 state-based policy and advocacy organizations, has used evidence and analysis to advance policies that give more people the opportunity to prosper. State Priorities partners equip lawmakers, journalists, advocacy organizations, nonprofit service providers, and the public with unassailable information that is used to help children obtain a quality education, help families secure medical care, and help working people get the assistance they need to build a better life.

The State Network Fundraising Manager will work directly with Partnership groups across the country to increase their organizational sustainability. The Fundraising Manager will play a key role in helping state groups develop powerful fundraising strategies, and will provide ongoing fundraising support and technical assistance to one of the country’s most successful policy networks.

The State Network Fundraising Manager will:

  • Consult with State Partner directors, staff, and boards to determine their fund development needs, develop ambitious, attainable fundraising strategies with a focus on individual donors, and facilitate and support the implementation of these strategies through ongoing support and technical assistance.
  • Support State Partner directors in planning events that align with organizational capacity and fundraising goals, including conferences, house parties, and funder briefings.
  • Develop on-site and remote trainings for State Partner directors, staff, and boards on topics related to the fundraising challenges of state-based policy and advocacy organizations.
  • Review and edit as requested State Partners’ fundraising materials, including appeal letters, newsletters, grant applications, and other stewardship documents.
  • Collaborate with other State Fiscal Project staff to help build organizational capacity and enhance effectiveness in Partnership organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including non-profit fundraising from individual donors.
  • Ability to craft innovative donor engagement strategies and implementation plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of partners.
  • Excellent reading, writing, research, and editing skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and demonstrate grace under pressure.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, donor research tools, and fundraising database systems (Salesforce experience preferred).
  • Commitment to advancing the mission and goals of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and the State Priorities Partnership.
  • Familiarity with public policy work is a plus.

Some travel required.  Partial remote work available for outstanding candidates. Competitive salary commensurate with experience, excellent benefits, health insurance, dental coverage, vision coverage, life and long-term disability insurance, retirement benefits, flexible spending accounts, and generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedule.
